To identify the insurer linked to an old policy, consult the OSFI list first. If necessary, use the OLHI list next.
The insurer’s name may have changed after a merger, acquisition or restructuring.
Consult the OSFI list of insurers
The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, or OSFI, publishes a list of federally regulated insurance companies.
Check this list first to see whether the company associated with your old policy is still listed or now operates under another name.

Can’t find the insurer on the OSFI list?
Then consult the list prepared by OLHI.
It can help you identify the insurer that issued the policy or the company that may now be responsible for it.
The list also includes insurers that have merged, been acquired or no longer operate under their original name.
Good to know
- OLHI’s list is not exhaustive, and some information may be incomplete.
- Use it as a starting point to determine which insurers to contact.
- A company’s presence on the list does not confirm that it is responsible for your policy.
