During her 11 years as a senior executive in the general insurance sector Ms. Butler gained significant experience “managing” consumer issues and complaints including interactions with the General Insurance OmbudService (GIO) where they worked together to find solutions that were mutually beneficial for the consumer and the insurer. She understands how confusing insurance can be for the consumer and values the critical role that OLHI plays in fairly and impartially resolving disputes between consumers and insurance companies. As the senior executive responsible for the legal departments, she strongly encouraged the use of ADR as it results in more flexibility in outcomes and leads to better relationships between the parties.
As a member of the Board of Directors of OLHI, Ms. Butler brings senior leadership, government, actuarial and insurance experience, and knowledge of the challenges of Western Canada to the Board.
